Freewrite (holy crap lol)

Song: Upgrade You (from Da Drought 3 Mixtape)
Artist: Lil' Wayne

So I was watching the Atlanta Hawks vs Miami Heat game when I was trying to study for a history test. First of all, let me tell you that it is impossible to study for a test when you are trying to watch basketball. One reason for this is because I can't quit staring at people like D Wade, Beasley, Bibby and Johnson...just to name a few. Then I got pissed as shit when they decided to give D Wade a technical for something that he didn't even do...this dude on the Hawks started shit with him after D Wade went for a lay up...they almost got into it but the officials broke it up. Secondly, D Wade is trying to block some dude's shot and they both fall on the ground under the goal. How in in the hell can they give D Wade a flagrant foul for trying to block a shot? D Wade has had over 100 blocks this season and knows what the hell he is doing....why would he intentionally foul someone like 3 mintues after getting a technical? Basically, I havent' hardly studied for this damn test because I've so pissed off at this game. Now, I want to know why Dwight Howard is suspended for game 6? I have no idea what he did, but I'm pretty sure that I watched the last Magic/76'ers game and didn't see shit? Or maybe I'm crazy. Third, as much as I love the Celtics, how the hell did Rondo not get a flagrant foul for basically hitting that guy in the mouth last night? Dude's mouth was bleeding and everything...that was one of the most intense games of my life, aside from the other games they have played against the Bulls this entire playoff series. I saw some hightlights for the tnt commerical where will amazing happen and I saw Lil Wayne in the crowd on one of the commericals...I want to know what game he went to see? Being that he is from New Orleans, I would guess that he was at the Hornets/Nuggets game. Speaking of Nuggets, Chris Andersen is the craziest looking white guy in the NBA. Didn't he go to jail for drugs or something? I don't understand why I care so much about basketball, but I am literally in love with the NBA. There are so many different players on different teams that I like, it's difficult for me to pick a certain team...but I have to go with the Celtics. I can guarantee you that I'm not on the LakeShow (LameShow is what I like to call it) bandwaggon. Kobe is good, but have they not seen Bron Bron? He is by far the best player in the NBA. I love him. And I love Mo Williams. And Delante West. I love the Cavs basically. They are my second favorite team aside from the Celtics. I absolutely hate the Kevin Garnett isn't able to help the Celtics in the playoffs because of his injury, but I love the fact that he's dressed in a suit on the bench cussing at his teammates to motivate them. The first game of the series, you could clearly see him mouthing mother fucker...ever since then, I've notcied that they have limited the camera time that KG gets...I find it funny that even though the Big Ticket isn't even playing, he can still manage to get attention from the media.

Essay 4

I originally anticipated doing the Family essay, but I've decided to do the Spirtual Quest. I feel like I've been through so many things in my life that it would benefit me to write about it.

9/11

September 11th is an extremely vivid memory for me. I was in 11th grade at the time. I was in school at Kickapoo High School in Springfield Missouri. I remember that I was taking an Algebra 2 test and our principal walked in. I was sitting relatively close to the classroom door and overheard our principal tell my teacher there was some sort of attack in New York. At the time, I was trying to focus on my test, but I couldn't shake the thoughts of what could have possibly happend.

Once my test was over, I had to go to my Speech class. Ironically, that year in Debate our topic was about weapons of mass destruction. When I got to my speech class, all we did was watch the news. I remember seeing the second tower fall and my entire body went numb. I didn't personally know any of the people who's lives were taken that day, but I can only imagine how those people felt. It was a horrible school day. My dad texted me and told me that I better go fill my gas tank up because gas prices were going to sky-rocket. This instilled an indescribable fear in me, because I didn't realize that something like that could affect our situation in Missouri. That was quite the reality check for me, and quite honestly, it terrified me.

I don't think that I will ever forget where I was and what I was doing on that day. I may not be able to remember the exact specifics, but I will always have that engrained in my memory.

Childhood memory

I have moved around quite a bit in my life, but when I was in kindergarten through third
grade, I lived in Louisiana.
When I lived in Shreveport, Louisiana, I was quite the hellian. I lived in a suburban neighborhood with my mother, her husband (who is now my ex step-father), and his two kids.
My step-dads mother stopped by the house to bring us some homemade dinner. I honestly have no idea what I was thinking, but while everyone was inside, I went out to my step-grandmother's car. I got in the backseat and covered myself up with a large coat.
Quite some time passed, and she finally came to her car. I didn't move a muscle or utter a single word. I let her drive all the way across Shreveport to Bossier City, where her and her husband lived. She never noticed I was in the car, so when she got out, I stayed there for a moment.
Contemplating what to do, I decided to get out of the car and go knock on their front door. Mind you, this is later in the evening, probably around 8 o'clock. The shock on their faces was indescribable. I can still to this day remember what they looked like when they opened the door.
Not suprisingly, this turned into quite the fiasco. My mom had to drive at night all the way to Bossier City, which was a good thirty minute drive. She was extremely unhappy about the entire situation. All they could say was "Lauren, why would you do that?" Being seven years old, I had no valid answer. I don't think that I wanted to be an asshole, but in retrospect, that is exactly what I was being.
Eventually, everyone got over it, but this is probably one of the most vivid childhood memories that I have, and frankly, I think it's hilarious.

Cueing Lines

I'm not sure if this is the right way to interpret this assignment, but I would like to try it anyway.

"I predict the world is going to end within the next few years because..."

"He imagined what life would be like if he and his wife reconciled..."

"She thought she was going to hallucinate when she..."

A Day in the Life at Jose's

I work at Jose's on Dickson Street. For those of you who aren't familiar with Joses's, it's a mexican restaurant (if you can classify it as "mexican"). We are primarily known for our atomosphere and our margaritas. It was established in 1980 and has become a Fayetteville Tradition. Jose's is located in the heart of Dickson Street. Our most popular feature of the restaurant is our "Street Side". Driving down the street, you couldn't miss our outdoor scene.

The outside walls are painted bright blue, accompanied with multi-colored swinging doors leading to our lower deck. The lower deck has a bar and a covered stage where live bands play frequently. We also have an upper-deck that is covered with a tent where customers can sit outside to enjoy their drinks or food. The atmosphere in the spring and summer is indescribable. When we are busy, live music is blaring, people are drinking, it makes working outside a great experience. Our second most popular area of the restaurant is the inside "cocktail" and bar area. It is a large room with booths, tables, and tall tables. There is also a full bar with a huge bar-top. There are roughly 5 different TVs placed around the bar area, which makes it a great place to watch games, or anything interested on TV for that matter.

I am always scheduled to work the Tuesday morning "cocktail" shift. At Joses, your shift is based on seniority. Luckily, I have been there long enough to get good shifts for the most part. On this particular day, Tuesday, it was extremely slow. Myself and my co-worker, Sean, were the only employees on this side of the restaurant. Sean and I have been working together for about 9 months now, so we've learned each others sense of humor. Since we didn't have many customers, we were goofing around.

There is a multi-colored wooden fish that we hide in random spots. We obviously have entirely too much time on our hands to even play a game like this, but people would be suprised at how amusing this game can be. Once we got tired of this game, I decided to help Sean with his prep for the bar. I cut his lemons, and in turn, cut my hand. "Shit!" I said, in front of customers and our owner. I decided to be nice, and ended up injuring myself. Sean was making strawberry puree for our frozen margaritas, and I told him that I wanted him to save me some. "The only way I will give you the strawberries is if you funnel them," Sean said. I said "Oh my Todd, are you kidding me"? It turns out that he wasn't kidding, so I ended up funneling strawberry puree in the middle of Jose's. I managed to get strawberry juice all over my face and my work shirt.

I understand this story is pointless, but if you were there, you would see the amusement that I got from that day. I hope that I was able to paint a good enough picture for you to understand a Day in the Life at Jose's.
